Fixing common Wildcard photo upload errors

Errors that you might receive when you're trying to upload a photo for your Wildcard are mostly self-explanatory.

  • You don't have an email account.
    Wildcard-no email
    Before you can upload your photo, you must have a Northwestern email account. If you're a student, make sure you've activated your G Suite account. If you're faculty or staff, you may not have been provisioned with Exchange account yet and should contact the IT Support Center.

  • You're using the wrong file size.

    Adjust the file size or image resolution as appropriate.

  • You're using the wrong format.
    wildcard jpg format only
    Save your photo in JPG format and try uploading again.

  • You've received too many rejections on photos you've uploaded.

    Five times you submitted a photo that didn't meet specifications. You can no longer upload a photo. You'll need to have your photo taken at the Wildcard Office.

  • You're not eligible for a Wildcard.

    You don't have the appropriate status to receive a Wildcard. See the Wildcard Office for more information.

  • You receive a generic upload error.
    "An error has occurred with the WildCARD Photo Upload process. Please contact the IT Support Center at 847-491-4357 (1-HELP) to resolve this issue."
    Contact the Support Center, who will refer your issue to a Wildcard specialist.
