Updating your profile in Our Northwestern

Whether you're an alum, current student, faculty or staff member, you can self-manage your information on file with the University at any time by updating your Our Northwestern profile. Any changes you make to your record will take 24 hours to update the University’s database of record. Updates to your contact information will apply across the University, including the online alumni directory and your local alumni club chapter.

First, go to Our Northwestern at http://our.northwestern.edu and log in using your preferred sign in method. Once you're logged in, go to the upper right of the screen, click My Account, then select View Profile.

Note that the preferred browsers to use with Our Northwestern are Google Chrome and Firefox.

Modify your privacy level

In several places on your profile page you'll see a statement indicating your privacy level. The default privacy level when you register for Our Northwestern is Basic.
  1. Click Manage privacy.

  2. Review the four privacy levels and choose the level you want for your profile.
  3. Click Save when you're done.

Add or modify your directory photo

  1. Click the pencil icon above your name.
  2. Choose a photo from your computer and resize it as appropriate.
  3. Click Save when you're done.

Add or modify your email addresses

  1. Scroll down to the right-hand purple panel titled Contact Information.
  2. Click the pencil icon next to the Email header to open the Add Email window.
  3. Enter or modify your email address(es).
  4. Use the Use this email to contact me dropdown menu to choose your preferred email address.
  5. Click Save when you're done.

Add or modify your phone numbers

  1. Scroll down to the right-hand purple panel titled Contact Information.
  2. Click the pencil icon next to the Phone header to open the Add Phone window.
  3. Enter or modify your phone number(s).
  4. Use the Use this phone number to contact me dropdown menu to choose your preferred phone number.
  5. Click Save when you're done.

Add or modify your street addresses

  1. Scroll down to the right-hand purple panel titled Contact Information.
  2. Under the Address header, click the pencil icon next to the Home or Work header to open the Add Address window.
  3. Enter or modify your address(es) as appropriate.
  4. Use the This is where I prefer to receive mail from Northwestern toggle to choose your preferred location to receive US Mail from Northwestern.
  5. Click Save when you're done.

Add or modify your social media info

  1. Scroll down to the right-hand purple panel titled Contact Information.
  2. Click the pencil icon next to the Web and Social Links header to open the Add Websites window.
  3. Enter or modify your social media web address(es) as appropriate.
  4. Click Save when you're done.
