Box Migration: What to do when your migration runs long

This article covers best practices around using Box, OneDrive, or SharePoint when your migration may be delayed.

As background, the migration process begins at noon (CST) on Fridays, and most migrations are complete by the end of the day on the following Monday. However, Box account sizes larger than 3TB or those that have more than 150,000 files may run longer. In this case, you will be notified via email that your migration is still running on the following Tuesday, and you will continue to receive status updates each Friday until your migration is complete. When the migration process is complete, you will receive an email confirmation.

Files in Box (but not in OneDrive/SharePoint)

If you need to modify or share a document that is located in Box, please download the file from Box and then upload it to OneDrive or SharePoint. The file will not be overwritten by the migration process as long as it is not located within the _FromNUBox folder

Any files that you download from Box and upload to OneDrive or SharePoint manually will NOT have any previous versioning or file history.

Files in OneDrive/SharePoint

Any files that are located in OneDrive or SharePoint (including those in _FromNUBox folder), can be edited and shared
